This is a simple elevator prototyping project describing how elevators works and how to build one
N36,328.00
-At its core, an elevator operates on the principle of counterbalance, utilizing a motor-driven system to raise and lower a carrier within a shaft. If you opt for the floor, the system activates and sends commands through the controller to the motor. This triggers the motor, which rotates the sheave. An elevator, also called a lift, is a machine that vertically transports people or goods between floors of a building using a motor-driven system, typically powered by electric motors that pull cables connected to the elevator car and a counterweight, allowing it to move up and down a shaft; essentially, it works like a pulley system where the motor turns a sheave to raise or lower the elevator car based on your selected floor button. Key components of an elevator: Motor: The main power source that drives the elevator system.
Sheave: A large pulley wheel that the cables wrap around, allowing the motor to raise or lower the elevator car.
Cables: Steel cables connecting the elevator car to the counterweight and the motor.
Counterweight: A heavy weight that balances the weight of the elevator car, ensuring smooth movement.
Elevator car: The enclosed cabin that passengers ride in
How it works:
When you press a button in the elevator car, a signal is sent to the control system. 3. Motor activation: The control system activates the motor, which starts to rotate the sheave. 4. Cable movement: As the sheave rotates, the cables wind or unwind, pulling the elevator car up or down the shaft. 5. Counterweight balance: The counterweight moves in the opposite direction of the elevator car, maintaining stability. 6. Stopping at the floor: When the elevator reaches the desired floor, the motor is stopped, and the brakes are applied to prevent movement.
In this project, we are going to build an elevator prototype. materials needed:
